My taste in music is … varied. I mean, sure, I have my favorites (many of which are of the cheesy late ’80s/early ’90s hip hop genre — Ice Ice Baby, anybody?). But, when it comes down to it, there are few genres I have no use for. I like classical, alternative, (some) country, rap, punk, you name it.
What I really like in music is when it surprises you. I love songs that draw you in and then, BOOM, they hit you with something equally amazing, but entirely different. Start me out swaying and then get my booty bouncing, you know?
So, anyway, when a couple of my friends introduced me to Girl Talk last night, oh my god you guys, I fell in love so hard. I don’t even know how to explain how genius I think this album (which he’s GIVING AWAY FOR FREE) is. It has everything, and it’s all mashed up and fun and has classic rock and recent hip hop and reggae and Beck and, like, there was some Tevin Freaking Campbell in there (Strawberry Letter 23 — whaaat?). I’m obsessed, and considering this latest album, All Day, broke the internet, I’m guessing I’m not the only one.
If you love it like I do, you’re welcome. And, if you don’t? Well, don’t expect to enjoy the playlist at my next party.
